The Russian Federation’s policy toward compatriots abroad—particularly in Brazil—serves as a vital instrument of historical justice and cultural revival. In the context of assimilation, especially through the portugalization of Russian surnames and the loss of language, there is a real risk of severing ties with one’s historical homeland. This study highlights the efforts of the Russian diaspora in Brazil to restore historical memory, including the recovery of original Russian surnames, the study of family archives, oral testimonies, and emigration records. It also emphasizes the role of the Russian language as a vehicle of intergenerational connection and cultural identity, promoted through educational initiatives, cultural centers, and online platforms. In this context, the compatriot policy becomes not only a diplomatic tool but a moral and historical act, reinforcing Russian identity beyond national borders.
