iberorus2025-Y2.006
Relevance. At the beginning of 2025, Donald Trump, a representative of the Republican Party who is a supporter of fairly strict immigration policies, came to power in the United States again. Therefore, it is important to analyze the actions of his predecessors, as well as the results of the migration policy he pursued between 2017 and 2021. This will help us understand what measures Trump may take regarding migration during his second presidential term and how much this will actually help solve the centuries-old problem of US-Mexican migration.
The novelty of the study lies in its comprehensive analysis of Donald Trump's migration policy. The report presents a systematic analysis of all measures taken by the current US president regarding the Mexican border. The novelty of the study is also characterized by an extensive analysis and comparison of the approaches of representatives of the US Democratic and Republican parties to resolving the migration crisis on the southern border in the 21st century. The report focuses primarily on the contemporary challenges and problems faced by both American society and Mexican migrants.
Methods. This report uses deduction and systematization to describe the formation of the US-Mexico border and US migration policy. Comparative analysis was used to identify key features of the migration policies of the Republican and Democratic parties in the US. Methods of analysis and classification were used to identify prospects for the development of US migration policy after Trump's inauguration.
Specific scientific results: 1. An analysis of the migration policies of the US Democratic and Republican parties was conducted, and the most effective methods of restricting migration flows were identified. 2. The results of Donald Trump's migration policy during his second presidential term were predicted.
Conclusion. Solving the immigration problem and preventing a migration crisis on the border between the two countries, as well as preserving the cultural identity of the United States, is only possible if a balanced and well-thought-out migration policy is implemented. One or even two presidential terms are not enough to solve the migration problem, which has a history of almost two hundred years. It is necessary to seek compromises and develop a unified migration policy towards Mexican migrants.
